Time is the enemy

Perhaps it is my imagination but time seems to be moving far more rapidly than it used to. No sooner has Tuesday passed, then another weekend is upon us. Weeks and months pass at incredible speed and we are fast approaching the end of the year. We are perhaps marking time, there are all kinds of things in the wind that need answers and solutions but all we can do is wait patiently.

The days are  longer, the daylight hours are streching before my eyes, Chelsea Flower Show has been and gone in a rush of excitement and colour. Time has become my enemy of late. There are never enough hours in the day but I fill them all to capacity. One of my greatest joys is working in the garden and I have a list of jobs to be done! I have worked out in the garden most of the day and enjoyed it immensely.

In an age of coddling, convenience, and comfort, it’s hard to come up with a reason to do any hard work. In fact, we go to great lengths to avoid it. We opt to get our workout by paying exorbitant amounts to a gym or by running on pavements sucking up fumes from the traffic. But working outdoors alongside Mother Nature - is soul-filling. Physical work keeps you alive it gives you hope and great satisfaction, hard work is good for you and it keeps you in a good place. It also brings a new appreciation for the people who do the work that we tend to take for granted.
So I offer my wisdom to you. If you spend a lot of time in front of a computer-like most of you reading this blog right now, probably-and are feeling uninspired, lethargic, apathetic, step outside and find a way to get your hands dirty. Your soul will thank you for it.
