Lammas is a festival, traditionally celebrating the first
fruits of the harvest, the fruits of our labours, and seeing the desires that
we had at the start of the year unfold so rituals will be centred around this.
Lammas is an early Christian festival, “Lammas” means loaf mass and represents
the first loaves baked from that year’s crop. These were taken to the church
and laid on the altar.
At this time of year in the wild fruit, nuts and berries are
plentiful, but since our food has become mass produced we have sadly lost touch
with the natural cycle of the year.
